Kim Hyung-soo (Korean: 김형수 ; built-in December 30, 1981),[1] better known past his stage name K.Will (Korean: 케이윌 ), is a South Korean vocalist. The proper name is a combination of the first letter 'One thousand' of his last name 'Kim' and the English word 'Will', which means will.[ii] He debuted in 2007 and has since become known for his chart-topping ballads.[iii] He has also been dubbed the "Prince of OST" for his frequent Korean drama soundtrack appearances.[iv] [5]

K.Will has released 4 full-length albums: Left Heart (2007), Missing Y'all (2009), The Third Album (2012–2013), and The Fourth Album (2017–2018).[6] [7] [3]

Career [edit]

Pre-debut [edit]

Prior to his debut, K.Volition trained to be a singer for five years under producer Bang Si-hyuk.[8] He also worked as a "guide song," singing demos of songs that would ultimately exist recorded by other artists including TVXQ, k.o.d. and Rain.[9] During this time, he was dubbed the "male Mariah Carey," after a video of him singing Carey'south songs became popular on Due south Korean websites.[10]

2007–2009: Debut and Starship Entertainment [edit]

K.Will released his commencement album, Left Center, on March 6, 2007 via Bang's label Big Hit Entertainment. Producer J.Y. Park composed the anthology's championship song, which reached #3 on the Melon digital chart shortly after its release.[xi] [12] That twelvemonth, 1000.Volition as well released the hitting vocal, "Moon Setting Solitary," from the War of Coin soundtrack, and was voted the best new singer of 2007 in a survey of Southward Korean television writers.[13]

In January 2008, Thou.Volition left Large Hit and joined his agent Kim Shi-dae's new visitor Starship Entertainment. On December 2, 2008, he released his first digital single under Starship, "Love 119" (a collaboration with rapper MC Mong).[xiv] The single reached #1 on diverse online music charts and ranked #ii on the KBS Music Bank chart without any promotions.[fifteen]

Yard.Will released his outset extended play, Dropping the Tears, featuring a championship track of the same proper name, on March 31, 2009.[sixteen] While promoting the anthology, he gave vox lessons to Lee Min-ho, the pb actor in the television series Boys Over Flowers, to set up Lee for recording the song "My Everything" for the prove's soundtrack.[17]

K.Will made his acting debut in September aslope Han Hyo-joo in the web series Soul Special. [18]

On November five, 2009, he released his 2nd album, Missing You lot. In early on December, K.Will performed at the 2009 Hallyu Music Festival in Sapporo and Tokyo, Japan.[22] On December 25, he held his first solo concert in Seoul.[23]

2010–2011: International expansion [edit]

K.Volition debuted in the U.s.a. at "THE THREE ROMANTICISTS" concert along with Kim Bum Soo and Yoo Seung-Chan on March 5, 2010.[24] [25] His single titled "Present" was released on March ten, 2010 and achieved #1 on many online music charts.[26] [27]

One thousand.Will embarked on his first solo concert in Japan, "K.WILL Live Concert with Band in Tokyo" in May 2010 and "K.Will Live Concert with Band in Osaka" in July 2010.[28] [29] On the July 31, K.Will appeared on the music show "The MUZIT" equally one of the main MCs along with upperclassmen vocalizer Yoo Young Suk . On the first episode Thousand.Will and Charice performed the duet "Endless Dear."[30]

A year afterwards his second album, K.Will released another digital single featuring Simon D and Hyorin of Sistar titled "Amazed" on January 21, 2011. K.Volition successfully completed his 3rd solo concert, "My Heart Is Beating" at the Olympic Park Hall on June 25, 2011.[36] He has as well participated several diverseness shows such every bit "We Got Married" with Kim Hyung Jun,[37] the drama "Spy Myung Wol"[38] and the reality show "Immortal Songs 2" nearly the terminate of the year.[39]

On February 11, 2014, Mamamoo did a collaboration with K.Will with the single "Peppermint Chocolate" featuring Wheesung. On June 25, K.Will released his mini album, 1 Fine Twenty-four hours. The music video for the title rail, "Twenty-four hour period 1", starred Sistar'southward Soyou and Park Min-woo.

On March 25, 2015, Yard.Will released his mini anthology, [Re:]. The music video for the title track, "Growing", starred Son Ho-jun and Park Ha-sun.

On January iii, 2016, Starship Entertainment released music video teasers of One thousand.Volition's single "You Phone call It Romance" featuring Davichi. The music video was released on January 6, starring Hyungwon, thespian Choi Won Myung, and extra Yoon Ye Joo. On May ten, S.M. Entertainment revealed K.Volition would feature on a duet with Baekhyun of EXO entitled "The Day". The song was released on May 13.[49]

2017–present: The 4th Album [edit]

On July 30, 2017, K.Will stated on his personal Twitter that he would exist working on completing his side by side album.[fifty] [51] The album, titled The quaternary Anthology Part.one [Nonfiction], was officially announced on September 12[52] and released on September 26, along with an accompanying music video for the title track "Nonfiction".[53] [54]
